JOINTS AND SEAM FORMATION IN ASPHALT PAVEMENTS

In areas where different materials connect or join onto asphalt surfaces that have already cooled, no watertight and permanent connections are produced without any further measures. According to ZTV Asphalt-StB, seams and connections must therefore be sealed with corresponding systems when producing asphalt coverings.

CREATING
WATERTIGHT CONNECTIONS.

APPLICATION

Waterproofing road construction

Protection of the substructure against erosion

Safe absorption of movement through joint in appropriate width

For composite construction, raising of joints in the asphalt surface to absorb movement

SERVICES

Construction of seams and joints in asphalt according to ZTV Fug-StB and ZTV Asphalt-StB

Cutting and sealing connecting seams and structural joints

Filling joints in front of kerbs according to RiZ DICHT 9

Raising joints in the asphalt with superstructures on over concrete roads (e.g. in DSH-V)

Also chemically stable construction in storage, filling and handling plants and on WHG surfaces

Cutting the joint

Constructed joint chamber

Sealing the joint

Finished joint in DSH-V on concrete

CONSTRUCTION

Cutting with joint cutter (dry or wet cut with extraction)

Cleaning the joint using a brushing machine or compressed air

Applying the bonding agent, if necessary

Version with and without undersealing

Melting the joint material in indirectly heated melting cookers

Inserting the sealant using lances

ADVANTAGES

Selection of suitable materials adapted to the intended use

Cost-effective increase of the service life and value preservation of the infrastructure due to professionally designed joints with high-quality filling materials

Absorption of movement in the joint – preventing cracks
