Cracks in asphalt and concrete surfaces can occur due to various factors such as ageing, traffic loads, temperature fluctuations and ground movements. This can lead to water getting in, which can cause major structural problems if action is not taken in time. The type of crack repairs has to be adapted to the damage and the type of road surface.
Treatment of damaged seams, cracks and connections in asphalt constructions
Sealing cracks in concrete slabs
Routing using carbide tools
Cutting with diamond discs
Machining with hot-pressed air system – HPS and screed box
Blowing and preheating
with hot compressed air
Heating up the crack sealant
Applying the cover strip
using the screed box
Applying the surfacing
Result of the repairs using
the crack covering method
Prepared cracks for routing and sealing method
in concrete areas
The treatment of cracks prevents the penetration of surface water and solids
Subsequent damage caused by penetrating water, such as erosion of the support layer, reduced layer composite or frost fractures, is prevented
Processing of cracks in concrete surfaces, in combination with other repair work (e.g. stabilising concrete slabs, anchoring retrofit) in accordance with ZTV BEB-StB, considerably prolongs the concrete surface’s remaining useful life
