The construction of an exposed aggregate concrete surface is the current standard version on motorways. The characteristic feature of an optimum exposed aggregate concrete texture is a uniform and tightly packed arrangement of the coarse aggregate with the highest possible number of profile tips on the surface.
The combination agent (retarder and post-treatment agent) is applied to temporarily prevent the surface mortar from setting
The aggregate is exposed by removing the surface mortar once the concrete is hard enough
Self-monitoring by constant checking of the texture depth using ELAtextur or sand spot method according to DIN EN 13036-1
