Road surfaces become less skid resistant during use. This loss of grip is accompanied by a change in the surface’s micro and macrotexture. In particular, the loss of macrotexture can lead to aquaplaning when it rains. This can be restored using high-pressure water jetting technology. It is important to arrange the removal in such a way that the durability of the material is not damaged. Roughening or retexturing methods are available for use with existing surfaces.
The aim of these methods is to treat the micro and macrotexture of existing traffic areas using an appropriate nozzle and machine configuration to achieve the very best friction value and restore road safety as a result.
Texture blasting technology is used for application on new traffic areas. With this technology, specifically reproducible surface textures are produced in asphalt or concrete traffic areas. Various surface properties such as skid resistance, drainage, noise reduction, reflection and tyre abrasion can therefore be configuring the high-pressure water jetting technology to the top layer material. This form of surface treatment is part of the technical standards (e.g. the FGSV technical standard “Merkblatt für die Herstellung von Oberflächentexturen auf Verkehrsflächen aus Beton” M OB24) for concrete surfaces (Construction of exposed aggregate concrete surfaces in new construction). It is also the key technology for the future construction of efficient and sustainable traffic areas.
With all the methods listed, it is important that no removal takes place that is damaging to the material. We can guarantee this with our innovative technology! Among other things, our system operates at very high rotational speeds, so the energy input on the surface can be controlled. This allows us to treat the surface independently of the material (asphalt or concrete) in a manner that is gentle on the material. Furthermore, water consumption can be reduced in comparison to other systems, thus conserving resources
